The Body/Spirit Effect of Om

In your Yoga class the instructor begins the class into "OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM."   You can feel a vibrating in the air as all the voices join in harmony. Maybe you begin to also notice your head vibrating.
Why? And what does it mean?

The Hindu definition of Om is like the “Amen” at end of Christian prayer. OM goes in the beginning of each spiritual Hindu script. Om is pronounced very differently then we say it.  “ aw {as in law}, oo {as in zoo}, mmm.”

HERE’S WHY YOUR BODY IS VIBRATING

  • The first sound is vibrating in the base of your spine.

  • The second sound is vibrating in your throat and chest.

  • The third sound is vibrating in your cranium.

Om represents the unity of the past, present and future. It is said to be appropriate for all religions to use..
